Description :
Over the past 20 years, The Geochemist's Workbench name has become synonymous with geochemical modeling. The GWB is now in use at more than 1000 companies, universities, and research institutions worldwide.
The new version uses multithreaded parallel processing to run faster than ever, dual porosity modeling, and the new Geochemist's Spreadsheet! Click here for more details.
The Geochemist's Workbench is available in 3 tiers, each tier with increasing functionality:
GWB Essentials
Are you still storing your water chemistry data in Excel? GWB Essentials provides a spreadsheet designed to meet the needs of aqueous geochemists.
GWB Essentials is a set of software tools for solving water quality problems, including those encountered in environmental protection and remediation, the petroleum industry, and mine wastewater planning. GWB Essentials was created for water engineers, aqueous chemists, geochemists and anyone else working with water quality data!
With GWB Essentials you can :
- store water data, convert units, sort, evaluate replicates and standards, and flag exceedances in one spreadsheet
- balance chemical reactions
- create Eh-pH (Pourbaix) and activity diagrams
- calculate solution speciation, mineral saturation, gas fugacities and more
- model ion sorption and surface complexation
- plot Piper, Stiff, series, time series, cross plot, ternary and numerous other aqueous geochemistry diagrams
GWB Essentials contains the following modules:
- The Geochemist's Spreadsheetnew! or GSS is the place to store all your water analysis. GSS lets you paste data from Excel, quickly convert units, manage and maniuplate water chemistry data with common spreadsheet tools, calculate bulk fluid properties (TDS, charge balance etc.), speciation, mineral saturation and gas fugacities, create numerous water chemistry diagrams using Gtplot, mix fluids, compare replicates and check standards, sort data, and launch SpecE8 or React.
- Rxn balances chemical reactions and calculates equilibrium constants, temperatures, and equations
- Act2 generates stability diagrams on activity, Eh, pe, pH, and fugacity axes
- Tact generates temperature-activity and temperature-fugacity diagrams
- SpecE8 computes species distributions, mineral saturation, and gas fugacity in aqueous solutions
- Gtplot projects SpecE8 calculations in a variety of ways, including ternary, Piper, Stiff, Durov, Schoeller, and ion balance diagrams
GWB Standard
- polythermal and sliding fugacity reactions
- consider mineral dissolution/precipitation kinetics and redox kinetics
- specify custom rate laws
- model microbial metabolism and growth
- Debye-Huckel or Pitzer activity coefficients
- flow-through and flush configurations
- flash (scaling) diagrams
- stable isotope fractionation
GWB Standard modules
In addition GWB Standard also contains a module for reaction path modeling:
- React traces reaction paths involving fluids, minerals, and gases. React can account for kinetic rate laws, isotope fractionation, microbial metabolism and growth, and much more
- The Gtplot module displays the results of React simulations. Gtplot allows you to view almost any compositional variable along the reaction path: species concentrations, mineral masses and saturation indices, gas fugacities, elemental and component compositions, pH/Eh, temperature, TDS, alkalinity and much more!
What's new in GWB version 8?
The Geochemist's Workbench release 8 offers significant speed enhancements and dual porosity modeling for the Professional tier, and the new Geochemist's Spreadsheet for the Essentials, Standard and Professional tiers!
